MOVEMENT.
A pretty DANG IMPORTANT word to me as it’s a big part of both my personal life and within the very name of my small business. Therefore it’s at the core of my life and what I love to do as a COACH! According to Merriam - Webster the definition of movement is: the act or process of moving, especially: change of place, position or posture. Before you read any further take a few seconds to NOTICE that this (or any definition for that matter) provides NO SPECIFIC details on WHAT TYPE OF MOVEMENT you “should” be doing. It simply states the in order to move you must CHANGE.
This concept is WHY I choose to use this word so often in my life, coaching and business. Because our bodies have SO MANY DIFFERENT capabilities that not only help us to to see, taste, hear, smell, and touch the world around us. But also give us the choice and ability to twirl, run, leap, catch, lift and hold the things that we care about most close to us. So why do we CONFINE ourselves to the idea that there is only ONE TYPE of movement that will help us to become happy and healthy? You all know what I’m talking about —— the concept of EXERCISE, is KING when it comes to health and fitness culture here in U.S. But I want to change that narrative and open up this ideology to OTHER FORMS OF MOVEMENT. Especially the ones that make YOU FEEL GOOD, not the entire group exercise class but YOU and YOU ALONE. If that’s dancing, hiking, swimming, weight lifting, yoga or a leisurely bike ride for you, I say GO FOR IT!For those of you that actually read this far in the caption this is your REMINDER that the only type of MOVEMENT you “should” be doing is what feels best to YOU. Not matter what your group exercise instructor or society may say ✨
