In 2018 Meant for Movement was Born.
It was my Junior year of study at Calvin University and as I sat at my desk; continuing to prepare to give a speech to my public communications class the next day. I got bored….distracted… wanted to do anything that wasn;t homework. So instead I began writing a small piece/poem on how the study of my major in kinesiology had impacted my life in social, emotional and physical ways. A few hours later as I shared my thoughts on Instagram I was ecstatic because I felt that the words I had written would be on my heart for years to come. But what I didn’t know was where they would lead. SO here we are less than 2 years, a lot of messy decisions and one pandemic later you see the business that is —Meant for Movement.
Ask me who I am and I’ll tell you I have many roles...
Don’t get me wrong I am honored to hold all of these roles, BUT I don’t think they define me entirely.

CEO
Still getting use to this one after my full year in business. But I’m learning to live into it more and more each day. So here we are.
Fiancé
I must say, this is my absolute favorite role to get the chance to learn, grow and be apart of. I have never felt so much acceptance, love, and support in a relationship before. So whatever the plan may be for my life I am certainly glad to experience all of this with such a loving partner like Josh.
Coach
What I was made to do. Whether in the gym, or life, I will endlessly share the knowledge I have attained and find great joy in doing so.
Daughter & Sister
The two roles I hold the utmost respect and love for because they make me a part of a truly wonderful family. Which is something that has held great importance in my life since I was a child. These women teach and give to me beyond what I often think is possible and I am eternally grateful to them.
Influencer
Another role I have denied this past year. But the fact is, I have influence & I don't take that lightly. You trust me, and I think that's pretty NEAT!
But when all of these roles fall away who are you?
Truth is who I am is continuously evolving. So I can’t hold onto any of these roles too tightly without fear of losing them because they are not mine to hold onto forever. Life moves with or without my permission. So instead, I do my best to imperfectly live a life of peace. Letting life live through me. Sometimes clinging onto these roles and other times letting go of control so I can receive life as it comes my way.
So to answer the question; when all of my roles fall away I do my best to stay connected to the person beneath the exterior (some would call this the soul). I do this by seeking out; who/what I love; like my partner Josh, close relationships with my friends, my family, a good book or a steaming cup of coffee, the things that make me come alive; like new adventures (close to home or not), travel (whether in real life or a book), deep conversation on pressing topics, or new experiences with the people I love, the things that define beauty to me; nature, sunlight, the color green, the smell of a campfire, the sound of the breeze shaking the trees, and time to fill my own cup; this can include taking a bubble bath(with a big glass of cabernet included), meditation, reading a good book, eating multiple pieces of pizza, journaling or completing a nice long and sweaty movement session.
